Stanley, meet Fluffy....
.....or, Yikes ! I'd better get busy esplainin' stuff, cuz I forgot I had scanned these in and people found them....
Anyhoo, this is the stupendously magnificent japanese? chinese? cherry? berry tree, that lived in front of my parents house. Each year it got more and more huge-r and glorious-er. If you stood on the deck, you would be totally enveloped in these big, puffy, clusters of blossoms...and then, when "peak" was peaked and those 'clear-the-air' spring breezes came....we would be privy to the most funnest of pink snowstorms.
Alas, the house and the tree are no longer with us. When my folks left the Cape, we eventually had to make the decision to sell their house. On a pre-market inspection, we noticed that there seemed to be some moisture in the basement. Long story short...one of the main reasons for this beloved tree's gloriosity, was the fact that it had 'eaten' a brand new septic pipe and was feeding off.....oh, everything....We laughed, we cried, we chopped down the damn tree. Harsh,,,,peut-etre.
Still...every spring, I haul out the pictures and imagine pink snowstorms.

absolutely gorgeous!!! so glad you have these to share.
rcy: yep, now we have something even more in common then we already did.
love the pink snow. I thought I rx to you and I will have to
what a beautiful tree such a shame it had to go, and great story too, did you think how much you saved on fetilizer?
I lived in a house where a tree did the same exact thing. Only it wasn't just a dampness in the basement, but a 'oh holy shit (literally) what the fuck happened!?" moment one sunday morning when I bounced down the stairs to do laundry and was met by an, um, moat, of sorts in our basement.
The clean up. Was. Horrible.
I cursed the tree--it wasn't nearly as pretty as your tree. I might have been more forgiving if it were a 'pretty' tree.
@Fodon - The rest of the story is, that all the carpeting and most of the wallboards had to be torn out and the whole basement had to be disinfected, before the house could be sold ! BUT, it was a pretty tree ???? muahahaha (now)
Tree murderer!
The trees are gorgeous! *sniffs in spring*
aw. tragic end. ITS FLUFFY LEGACY WILL NEVER DIE
ryc: of course he's thrilled. we're all *ahem* "attention mongers".... no matter the price of admission.
Absoulutely beautiful tree! Too bad it had to be chopped down.
