How I Xanga........
I understand that many of you must wonder "What the heck is she up to", when you see the footprints I leave behind. Well, I can't help it. Of course I probably could, but it would mean changing my 'process' and I'm not up for changes this week (or ever...) To begin with, the first time I ever 'clicked' anything was less than a year ago. That's when they lifted the rock I was under. I have never right clicked anything and I've temporarily given up on trying to figure out cut and paste. Oh, stop groaning, it gets worse.
The way I xanga will probably annoy some of you, but most of you are tres forgiving and supportive. That's one of the reasons I enjoy my escapades in xangaland. I have no idea how all that subscription/friend thing works, so I've created my own system, my own style, so to speak.
First off, I have dragged and dropped (sounds so butch) a bunch of you guys into a folder in my favorites. My most favorites are at the top and I start my journey from the bottom (best for last). I check out every site for any new entries, and if there is one, I read it and maybe leave a comment. Then I read my kid's blog and try not to get too distracted by what's going on in her life.
Now comes the fun part. I go to my site to see if anyone has left me any comments, or messages, or just a kagillion footprints. What's up with those? If my site is any indication, I must drive some of you nuts. I enjoy myself for awhile reading your comment to my blogs or my pulses, or maybe you left me a message. You all know how rewarding it is to have someone talk to you, even if it's just to say Hi - how're ya doin'. Then I go marvel at how 1 comment can generate 3 to 100 footprints. If there's anyone new there, I check them out using the same system as explained below.
Next I go to the list of comments I've left in the past couple of days, and return to those sites to see if there's been any follow up, or to see how the discussion is going. Here's where I start to have even more fun. If someone has commented on my comment, or has made an interesting point, or I just want to see their picture better.....I click 'em. I check out their gobbledy gook stuff on the left, and then I read their current blog and maybe one or two others. Next I check out all their photos and most of the time I can't resist leaving a few comments (there are some great/funny/artistic photos out there). Then come the videos and the audios (I really want to figure how to put music on my site). The pulse section is usually good for a couple of chuckles even when there aren't any entries and it says "so and so has no pulse". Now, once I've started to form my own opinions about the person, I go to their profile to see what they have to say about themselves...curses, foiled again...most people don't fill out their profile. Then I decide if I'm gonna D&D 'em or wait until I check back on my comments. Invariably, within the next few days I'll see their footprints on my site and maybe even a comment. Depending on the conversation and or comments, from one site, this romp through Xanga land could happen a few times. See - - a kajillion footprints all over the damn place.
I do understand that there is a system in place for subscriptions (Nat'l Geographic?) and friends, and, no doubt, my system is way more convoluted than needs be, but I like it. The main thing is, my sanity has been saved by all of you neet people. For a couple of hours, every evening, we have a lovely tea party. So forgive my dainty size 6's tromping all over the place. I'm really glad you're there, friends.

I pretty much quit checking footprints. Sometimes when I have extra time, I look for ideas on who else I can visit. I've found it pretty interesting watching xanga/web ettiquette develop. There are different groups with entirely different ideas about what is rude or polite and feel strongly about them. I don't worry about it too much. I'm glad I bumped into you here in xanga
The web saves my sanity a lot too.
One other thing I like about xanga is that you can pretty much do with it what you want to. There are no "rules", no "schedules", no "agenda" ... just communication in one form or another. I'm happy to have been one person on your list, my friend. Hope you continue to enjoy this place, as I do, just because it's here, it's convenient, and it can be pretty darned interesting, can't it? HA!
Tromp away, leave a kajillion footprints. I know it might bother some people but I'm not one of them.
I bet i've left a few footprints around your place too because when I find someone I almost always go back and read old blogs and look at old pictures. It's so interesting. That's what I love about Xanga so much it helps me find all these great interesting people that I would never get to meet in real life because of distance.
Hi, I dont think i've ever checked footprints , for me if someone wants to look and comment great,if they just want to look thats great too, its all communication, now i'm just going to work out time zones so i'm not late for the tea party, black, no sugar for me please
right now i'm going out to see what i can take a photo of, have a great week end.
You know that saying "Work the system any way you can".
That's a saying, right? Regardless, I don't think it matters how you xanga, as long as you xanga.
When the footprints first 'came out' I couldn't help but check them all the time. I was a bit obsessed and thinking "why is so and so always reading my site and never leaving a comment".
Then I realized, this is a public forum and I'm sure it happens all the time on an internet basis--people whom aren't part of the xanga family but still may read my blog, and i have no footprint of it.
So I calmed down. And never look at them anymore.
But i do like having imaginary friends.
Nothing imaginary about us Xangans. We're real people expressing our thoughts and opinions, interacting with others, and trying to share what we believe to be important. Gee, sounds like a community to me. Nice to have you as part of it.
Stalker.
I fluctuate a lot, it can get messy. My blogging and reading depends on my mood at the time, I do more when on an up. I think it should be enjoyable and not a duty to comment, though sometimes Love says to comment as it's needed. I rarely look at the footprints on my blog, it wouldn't bother me if people just read as I do that myself. Xanga has broadened my horizons and I'm very happy about that.
well dayum. I thought it was just ME you were stalking, now I see you're a xanga tramp! I thought I was special.
SK See.... not so much. You Have no idea how giddy it makes me feel to be thought of as a tramp...again. Coming from you, high praise indeed.
At least when you visit, you leave a real footprint. Not like those nasty bots, telling me that 27 people from North Korea all visited my site within 5 minutes. Liars!
I like to rummage around in xanga, turn it upside down and shake it and see what falls out. I get into a lot of interesting conversations that way.
When I have time, like I do now, I'll go on a random clicking spree to see if I find something interesting. The search isn't always fruitful, but once in a while it will be, like now!
The footprint system has to be flawed somehow, there's no way it can be accurate all the time. Especially if it's from a person who isn't signed in. Then you start getting hits from all over the globe.
You can't drive me nuts I'm already there.
Footprint away.
tanx for 'spalainin yourself, lucy - shoot now i have one more place i have to come to...
